About two years ago, I went on a family vacation to the Bahamas! If you ever plan on vacationing there, I highly recommend it! My family stayed at a hotel called Grand Hyatt Baha Mar and this is a great place to stay for a bit of luxury! The hotel includes: 7 private pools, a private beach, several fancy stores, several fancy restaurants, a casino, a spa, free WiFi, and so much more! To find out more details about it, go to the hyperlink below.

While my family was vacationing in Nassau, we spent a lot of time on the private beach our hotel had. I loved that because I was able to walk out the back door of the hotel and immediately find myself on the beach! We spent a lot of time sun tanning! We also played in the waves and the turquoise-blue ocean a lot, which was also very fun! My family and I definitely needed the relaxing time we spent on the beach!

Other than spending time on the beach, my family and I made sure we enjoyed swimming in the 7 different pools and gambling in the hotel’s casino in the late evenings! When we weren’t enjoying the hotel and all its amazing features, my family went and explored downtown Nassau. This was also a really nice part of this vacation I went on. In downtown Nassau we enjoyed walking around, admiring all the colorful buildings, trying the cultural foods of the Bahamas; which included Conch, and a little bit of souvenir shopping!

Because we were only here for a week, we didn’t fit in as much as we would’ve liked to, but we did fit in the basic things we wanted to do. If we weren’t swimming in the pools, gambling in the casino, relaxing on the beach, or exploring downtown Nassau, then we were using the special tourist package we got. In this fun, tourist package we got to ride jet skis, go parasailing, take a banana boat ride, and go snorkeling! My favorite thing out of everything that came with the tourist package we bought, the parasailing was by far my favorite! Parasailing was something that I’ve always had written down on my bucket list and it was definitely quite the experience! It was amazing just feeling myself lift off the deck of the boat as the driver picked up speed and we began to go up, up, and up! I loved feeling the wind in my hair and admiring the endless turquoise-blue ocean that was miles and miles below me! Parasailing definitely makes you feel like you are actually flying!

The water jet skiing was also really fun! I’ve never driven a jet ski before and it was definitely a bit of a challenge. It took me quite some time to figure out how to work it and on top of that, I had to keep a sharp eye out so I wouldn’t run into anyone else driving a jet ski around. Also with there still being waves, the driving of the jet ski was even more challenging. However, it was really fun too once I finally got the hang of it! After I got the hang of it I was speeding through the water in straight lines away from others! As I sped through the water on the jet ski, wind swished past me and water was spraying me as well! I actually really enjoyed the swish of the wind and the salty sea spray while I drove the jet ski! That was definitely another really fun experience!

For those of you who don’t know what a banana boat ride is, a banana boat is a boat that literally looks like a giant, floating banana. You straddle it like you would if you were riding a horse and the driver speeds through the water as you desperately struggle to hang on! They do have handles in front of each person to grab but if you end up with a driver like the one we had, the handles aren’t much help and you end up falling off at some point, unless you are very skilled. Luckily, you do have a life vest on so you don’t have to worry about the possibility of falling off the banana boat too much!

The snorkeling part of this tourist package is kind of tied in with the banana boat ride. The driver of the banana boat drove us out to a quiet, shallow bay where we were able to snorkel. I didn’t participate in the snorkeling too much though because I’ve done it several times before. I snorkeled for about 15 minutes and then just swam around for the other 15 minutes until it was time to get back on the banana boat and head back to the shore we boarded from. During my 15 minutes of snorkeling, I saw many colorful fish, some coral, and even a sea slug, which is very rare to see, so seeing those things made my short 15 minutes of snorkeling worthwhile. All in All, the tourist package my family got really is what made the trip to the Bahamas so much fun! The relaxing portion of it was an extra bonus! This trip was by far one of my favorites of the few amazing trips I’ve gone on so far in my life! Definitely visit the Bahamas if you ever get the chance to!
