Summer 2018 was a summer full of fun, once in a lifetime trips! The last of our major trips that summer consisted of going to Yellowstone National Park! This was a very memorable trip indeed!
We stayed at a lodge called, Canyon Village Lodge, which is literally, inside Yellowstone National Park! This lodge was really nice! You had two options either you could stay in the cabins they had or one of the several main lodges! We stayed in the cabins which was cool because it felt more like you were camping in Yellowstone! The cabins had a main room which held a table, coffee maker, and two beds. They also had a bathroom. For food at this lodge you could walk over to the lodge’s building that housed all the food, which included a bar & grill place, a few small separate bar areas, a Chinese food place, a slow food fast place, and several little sections you could get snacks and drinks from as well.
We were only in Yellowstone for two days, so the only thing we did was The Great Loop road, which takes you through a majority of Yellowstone and along the way, you get to stop at specific points of interest. The first point of interest we stopped at was Yellowstone Falls because that is one of the number one things people want to see in Yellowstone. After that, we stopped at Old Faithful. You definitely can’t miss out on seeing the most famous geyser, Old Faithful, there in Yellowstone! My mom got an app on her phone that would tell you all the times the many different geysers in Yellowstone would go off, so we got there just in time to see Old Faithful go off! It will be hard to miss the times Old Faithful goes off at though, because it erupts every 90 minutes or so on average. Plus, in the visitor center, they always post the next time Old Faithful is expected to go off at!
After seeing Old Faithful, we actually went and walked the boardwalk all around Old Faithful, which takes you around to see many other geysers such as Castle, The Beehive, and so many more! One other geyser at this boardwalk that would be amazing to see is the Beehive one, however, this one will be hard to see because it only goes off twice a day and they never know when it’ll go off. If you are lucky enough to see it, it is truly amazing! It shoots water so high into the air because it has so much pressure behind it and it even goes off for 4 or 5 minutes! But, if you are here and you happen to go by The Beehive, definitely be watching for it bubbling because that will be your warning sign that it will probably go off soon! This boardwalk also took you around to see numerous hot springs such as Heart Spring and so many more! The hot springs were pretty cool and the water in them was so clear and blue, surprisingly! After that little walk we went into The Old Faithful Inn to check it out. I recommend you do this while you are at Old Faithful too because this building is one of the originals in the park! It was built back in 1903 so it is over 100 years old and still looks the way it did back then! The inside was amazing! It had a really cool medieval theme to it which added to its aged beauty!
Our next stop along the Grand Loop Road, was probably my all-time favorite thing I got to see in Yellowstone! This stop was the Grand Prismatic Spring. Now you may think this is like every other hot spring, but it certainly is not! First of all, this spring is huge! This spring is 370 feet across and 121 feet deep! The other thing that makes it way different from others is that it has so many different colored algae that live in it, which makes the spring look just like a gigantic prism! Because the water is so clear, it looks as if it is a rainbow color instead of the natural blue color! The steam coming from the hot spring was actually blue when we saw it, instead of grey or white! When in Yellowstone, do not miss out on this uniquely, stunning hot spring that can only be found there!
This by far, has been my favorite trip we took during the summer of 2018! If Yellowstone National Park is on your list of places to see, definitely go and visit!
